Let Something Be Blown by the Wind

Hello again! This Creative Burst is drawn from Mieko Shiomi’s 1974 wind event, part of her Spatial Poems series in which she mailed invitations to people around the world to participate in her creative events.
In the spirit of Shiomi’s instructions below, for a Creative Burst, look out for a little episode of wind in your day and record it in a quick note or sketch or video. That’s it. Record some wind today. Burst away!
Let An Alley Be Blown by the Wind
For this exercise, I stopped to record the wind while I was walking down an overgrown alley in my neighborhood. In the spring after a night of rain, when the alley is covered in leafy greenness, I feel like this place could be somewhere else — a little European town with a sea just over that hill — or in a different time — maybe in the future, after a great rewilding, when basic human rights have been restored to every person and the earth is loved and thriving. I hope recording a little spell of wind opens a pathway to somewhere lush and peaceful for you, too.

The Silent Orchid

trees swaying in the wind
the feeling of the breathing of the trees
the smell of fresh fruit fills the air
leaves spinning in the wind
reaching until you get that sweet smell
quiet wind wooshes by
silent but the spinning leaves and trees
picking that sweet goodness
trees spanning many miles
