Welcome, Solo Paz!
and some things that are tiny and vast
The new DISCO anthology, Solo Paz, is here! I say this every year, but this book is the prettiest one yet! Designed by Sydney Newsom and written by students in Birmingham schools, Solo Paz contains little offerings of peace, relief, wonder, and joy. You can buy Solo Paz here and know that your purchase supports DISCO’s programming with young writers!

A Creative Burst
Today’s Creative Burst is a DISCO classic: Make a list of all the things that you can think of that are tiny or smooth or sharp or dull or quiet or vast. Think literally and figuratively. Time yourself and write for five minutes or carry your list with you throughout the week to add things as you see or think about them. Ask your friends for ideas, too.
Here are two poems by 4th grade students from Solo Paz:

For my list, I’m going with vast, and I’m starting with the Emily Dickinson line The Brain — is wider than the Sky. A friend added the open sea, a Montana sky, a dim sum restaurant.
What is vast to you? Reply below! Share your list, too, please. Onward!
